Answer:

In principle, all types of wood can be scanned and optimized. Our customers most frequently process oak, beech, maple, pine, fir, or spruce. However, we also have AI models for woods such as eucalyptus that reliably detect. Once the respective AI models are installed, you can change the wood type at any time with just one click.

Answer:

The sensors send the data obtained from the respective workpiece to the optimization software, which compares it with the corresponding stored AI model. If there is a match, the saw receives the information about where the board should be end trimmed or ripped, or how this board should be sorted. In general, there are two optimization options: by yield (ideal for finger-jointed wood) or by product value (ideal for furniture production).

Answer:

The maximum throughput of a WEINIG scanner is currently 250 boards per minute. However, the number in the specific customer system depends on which defects are to be detected with what precision and which process is involved (ripping, end trimming, or sorting). Many of our customers operate our scanners at 25-35 boards per minute.

Answer:

Depending on the series, different sensor packages are available. For detecting larger surface defects, for example, we use a 3D sensor and a color camera (series SOLID SCAN 1000), while in the series SOLID SCAN 4000, for ultra-detection of defects, we install very high-quality components such as a laser camera, a color camera with higher resolution, and a point laser, as well as optionally skip sensors and X-ray sensors.

Answer:

Thanks to the different WEINIG series and models (for example, longitudinal feed or cross-feed), solutions are available for different spaces and layouts. Various interfaces and software solutions, as well as, if necessary, mechanizations, also enable subsequent integration. Thanks to AI-based technology, the scanners are plug-and-play capable and installed within a few weeks.
