We already rely on OptiCore AI in our entry-level scanners. This software is based on deep learning and has been trained with extensive, carefully classified data. The software recognizes wood features with extreme precision and processes image information similarly to the human brain. Thanks to continuous optimization, it delivers reliable, repeatable results—with minimal adjustment effort.

DEFECT DETECTION USING AI TECHNOLOGY

In addition to the sensors, the software plays the most important role in the end trimming or ripping optimization of surfaces using scanner technology.

OptiCore / OptiCore AI is an intelligent image processing software that uses deep learning for the recognition of wood features. In total, well over 500,000 defects have been analyzed and can be processed by the WEINIG scanners like a human brain. This allows us to provide our customers with an optimized model for each wood type and configuration (optimization goal) for their operation. 

3D sensors are standard. They guarantee good resolution and appealing results. Continuous development of this industrial sensor system ensures that performance is constantly improved.
 

This technology is used for the detection of defects such as knots or pith tubes, etc. Thanks to a sophisticated laser system, 3D surface defects such as holes and wane are also reliably detected.
 

All sensors are protected by a dustproof housing.  

Standard scanners face challenges in detecting color defects. These issues are effectively addressed and eliminated by the color camera. The reliable detection of color defects contributes to the excellent performance of the series 1000 (product name before LIGNA 2025: EasyScan Lite). This is guaranteed by high resolution in both longitudinal and transverse directions. Defects such as blue stain are detected, measured, and optimized with the highest accuracy.

A reduction in setup and maintenance times simultaneously means an increase in production time and throughput. Therefore, automatic camera adjustment per stack/batch is standard in the scanner series 1000, 2000, 3000, and 4000. You can enter the values manually here or set up automation. Adjustment is based on cross-section.

Manage your production optimally with OptiCore. The software enables a very precise definition of your products and the required qualities. The sensors detect each individual piece of wood and the optimization software calculates the maximum possible yield, taking your quality requirements into account.

Both your product details and qualities are stored in the database and can be quickly reselected as needed via "drag-and-drop".

Thanks to the simple and logical user interface, OptiCore can be quickly operated by any employee.
